We are excited about the candidacies of Rick Purcell and Tim Beaudoin. Both have been working hard these past few months to gather the necessary signatures needed in their towns and get their names on the ballots. We are proud and happy to announce that both have succeeded!
Rick Purcell is on the ballot for Ward 3 in Holyoke. Tim Beaudoin on the ballot for Councilor at Large in Worcester. Rick was the Green-Rainbow Party's candidate for lieutenant governor in 2010. Tim is new to electoral politics. Both have great ideas, experience, commitment, and integrity.
Volunteers welcome and needed! The Administrative Committee and the Candidate Development and Legal committees of the Green-Rainbow Party encourage you to contact the campaign organizers and lend your support.
Donations also welcome and needed. Please give what you can to these grassroots campaigns. All size donations will help. The candidates respectfully decline contributions from registered lobbyists and from officers of corporations that hire them.
Thinking about running for office as a GRP candidate? The Green-Rainbow Party's Candidate Development Committee would like to offer their advice and support. Contact them at candidates@green-rainbow.org. We’d also like to hear from you if you would like to get involved in identifying, developing and supporting more candidates.
Meet the candidates. More details and updates to come!
Rick says:
"I am committed to making Holyoke a better city for you and me to live in. I have the leadership skills it takes to actually listen first to what citizens want and then act decisively. I am a US Army veteran, a healthcare professional and your neighbor, and I want to step up and represent our interests in city government. Whether you’re struggling to make ends meet or have a secure income, you are affected by poverty in our city—with poverty comes crime, with crime we all feel less safe, our insurance rates are higher, our city is full of abandoned properties and has a bad reputation. We all lose when some of us don’t have basic needs met. But we can change this through smart economic development that prioritizes the creation of real jobs with living wages for our city residents first. I have ideas to achieve this!"
“Big money is spoiling our electoral system. There is enough big money in most races that working people, poor people vote against their best interests. I understand the anger of the Tea Party movement – but not their politics. The Green-Rainbow party is the way to go. It's what's going to make our cities come back to life in a way that will benefit all of us. I'm with the Green-Rainbow Party because it advocates investment for green jobs, affordable health care and strong public education. It also believes in the power of the average Joe."

Tim says:
"My priorities on the Council will be to improve our public school system, increase artistic and cultural activity throughout the city, and to create a sustainable local economy. As a fourth generation Worcester resident, I am committed to seeing that our beautiful city remains a place for folks to find work, enjoy themselves, and raise families for generations to come."
