Needed: Telephone Calls for Fair Redistricting

An appeal from the Mass Black Empowerment Coalition for Redistricting, the New Democracy Coalition, and the Green-Rainbow Party

by J. Andrews

Dear friend of democracy and justice,

Please join us - along with the Mass. Black Empowerment Coalition for Redistricting, the New Democracy Coalition, the Green-Rainbow Party and others - in standing up for justice in the Commonwealth. PLEASE CALL THE REDISTRICTING COMMITTEE MEMBERS below. If possible,  call them this week, Sept. 15-16.

The Massachusetts legislature is now redrawing the district lines that determine where you vote -and whether your vote has power. For too long, districts have been drawn that weaken the voice of communities of color & lower income neighborhoods. This has contributed to further racial & economic injustice -increasing the crises in jobs, schools, public safety, higher education, health, air quality and more. This cannot be fixed without restoring an equal voice to underserved communities in the halls of government - beginning with the fair districts as called for in the Black Empowerment Coalition map.

A suggested call-in script and additional information is provided below. PLEASE LET US KNOW WHO YOU CALLED by emailing/calling mikeheichman@verizon.net / 617-265-8143 so we can track the calls to committee members.

Thank you for seizing this timely opportunity to reverse historic racial discrimination in our voting system. In this time of unconscionable and growing economic and racial inequality, let's stand up for democracy and justice!

Upward,

Mel King, Kevin Peterson, Tony Van der Meer, Jose Alicea, Cuf Ferguson, Jill Stein
